Most reliable and mobile disk solution ?

I have before used best 7200rpm disks of seagate, one 320GB died with all the data in computer case, and the other 500GB have stability problems in an external aluminium enclosure running on rigid flat surface. I have always showed exceptional care to these mechanics but they are actually all happened to fail with my life inside them. Have seen consumer samsungs running on video servers nonstop and dead silent and without noticeable vibration. Please recommend me most reliable disk plus adapter combinations that does not vibrate and heat terribly. Interface speed is important, only single disk options.
